Creating A Newsletter

Building a list is one of the most important aspects in any businesses. And to make money from your list, you would need to have powerful email newsletter.

I can tell you that I am very bad at this. And many people are doing a much better job than I do but yet I still make a lot of money through sending out of emails.

Basically, the two main purposes of newsletters are

1) to follow-up with an information you are offering

Of course, the first thing that comes before that is your visitor giving their information to you.

When you set up your landing pages, you certainly have included some incentives for the visitors to enter their emails right?

Hence, you would need to provide what you promise to your subscribers otherwise your potential customer would think it’s a scam.

It is often best if you can give more than what you promise. Or providing highly valuable content that your subscribers would spread the report around.

2) to establish a credibility and relationship with your subscribers.

Once you have your visitors attention by having them subscribed to your mailing list, it doesn’t mean you can take confidence and just throw them a bunch of hashed articles from different sites compiled together and then blast them with sales pitches over and over again until they buy from you. It doesn’t work that way.

You have to give them reason why you should be on their inbox and that they should pay closer attention to yours amongst the numerous e-mails that flood their inbox every now and then.

Remember, with regards to your niche, you’re not the only one offering this or that and competitors do the same thing as running newsletters. Uniqueness will set you apart from the crowd. What’s more you, have to provide it on a regular basis to keep your subscribers engaged in your plan.

Tip: Sign up for all your competitors’ newsletters to find out about their content and create a swipe file of all the good practices.

How do you manage a newsletter well?

Below are some points to consider when creating your newsletters.

Readability

Is your newsletter organized and well-structured? I’m talking about not just the layout but the content as well. For the layout, make sure your newsletter cater to all kinds of email client as well as resolution size.

Plan carefully whether to use html or plain text. Some emails are unable to view those with high resolution so adjust to that especially if you have graphics within your newsletters.

As for the content, try not to condense all the information on one email. You can break them into multiple parts and send it to them every now and then.

People love easy, digestible information and providing them that will go a long way. Make sure you have an outline of topics for your newsletter. This will help in having an organized and readable newsletter for your subscribers.

Content

Providing well-written content will keep your subscribers loyal to you. Give them topics that have been written to death over and over and they will see no value in keeping you in their inbox and immediately unsubscribe from your list.

On the other hand, give them distinctive, well-thought-of information and you can be assured that they’ll keep you even when it’s time to declutter the inbox. You’ll be the last they’ll unsubscribe to amongst other newsletters on their list.

But how do you that anyway?

If you are creating a 7 days ecourse, this is something which I followed closely for my newsletter.

Email 1: Welcome your subscribers and even share some personal story of yourself so that there could be some rapport building. Ensure that the information you are giving in this email is consistent with what you have written in your landing page before they sign up for your emails. If they are expecting a report, give them the report in the email.

Email 2: Write about the problems they faced and tied in with the product you are offering. In fact, the more you know what your target market wants, the easier for you to sell the product.

Email 3: Try giving a tip or 2 “secrets” that is either in the product and educate them all the benefits they will derive by getting your product.

Email 4: Give additional bonuses or special deals when people buy the product. If you are selling your own product, you can easily give a discount for someone who are in your list and have not bought your product yet. If you are promoting someone’s products, you can give away additional bonuses and ask the people who bought the product to forward his receipts to you.

Email 5: Address any potential questions and objections that one could have for the product in their minds. You can also ask them to email you about their problems.

Email 6: Include some of the testimonials of the people who have bought the product. If you are promoting someone’s product, you can simply add in the testimonials in their websites. Even it is repeated, these testimonials can be very powerful because the main focus of the emails would be on the testimonials.

Email 7: Direct them to your blog or website where you often keep updated with your latest news or interesting articles so that you can keep a long term relationship with your subscribers. In short, this principle is about getting sales and building long term relationship.

Browse among the Internet and you’ll find that there are many ways to that. In fact, if you know how to research for topics the right way, you’ll never run out of ideas for your next newsletters.

Since virtually every topic in your niche has been written about, why not come up with a subject of your own or on a different angle? Perhaps, you can develop case studies of your own experiments and experiences relative to your niche.

How about providing important news regularly to your subscribers about a major leap on your field of interest, still in regards to your niche?

It helps to be updated on everything concerning you and your subscribers. It calls for a fresh perspective to be talked about and interest among them.

Tip: Subscribe to Google alerts and it will send you daily updates of news of your selected topics.

Ultimately, newsletters prove to be effective and play an important role in generally building a lasting and profitable business. However, it’s not that easy. It can be challenging and time consuming. Trial and error is inevitable as well as frustrations.

It can also be pressuring since you are dealing with people here directly who may or may not like you and your business. Bottom line is you need to have patience and willingness to roll up your sleeves and put in considerable amount of effort to come up with an effective newsletter. In the long run, you’ll be rewarded with loyalty and trust from your customers.
